However, it is not just the film that has won awards, critical acclaim and popularity, but also its fantastic soundtrack featuring Indian music and modern western pop superstars. The song 'Jai Ho' sung by A. R. Rahman and containing a mixture of Hindi, Spanish, Urdu and Punjabi lyrics, created a vision of the whole world celebrating the victory at the end of the film. Indeed, Jai Ho means "a victory to you". In early 2009, the song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, beating favourite to win Peter Gabriel for 'Down to Earth' made for the film WALL-E.

The song "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" is an English language interpretation of Slumdog Millionaire's hit movie theme and features the original singer A. R. Rahman, who makes a cameo in the song singing the main theme. Performed by the Pussycat Dolls, the song has become one of their biggest international hits, reaching high billboard positions in countries on every continent. In total across the global music market, the single has achieved a massive Gold status with over 1,750,000 single sales worldwide. Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, has also commented that it is one of her favourite Pussycat Dolls tracks because of its fusion of different music genres with a great party beat.
The Pussycat Dolls version was initially released purely as a promotional single but its increasing popularity saw it become the first worldwide release from the two reissues of the Pussycat Dolls album 'Doll Domination' which are called 'The Mini Collection' and 'Doll Domination 2.0'. 'The Mini Collection' is a re-release of 'Doll Domination' which comprises of only their main singles 'When I Grow Up', 'Jai Ho!', 'Whatcha Think About That (feat. Missy Elliot), 'I Hate This Part', and two as yet un-released singles. In total there are 6 singles which showcase the main bulk of the 'Doll Domination' album.
'Doll Domination 2.0' similarly cuts out a lot of the superfluous tracks from the original release, leaving only 10 songs remaining, some of which are already released as singles and some future single releases. In the world of online music buying, where many people only buy famous singles, 'Doll Domination 2.0' and 'The Mini Collection' are good ideas for people just wanting the hits. However this also implies the band are not proud of the entirety of their 'Doll Domination' album, preferring to boost single sales and popularity. The problematic new portrayal of the Pussycat Dolls as The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger has also left a lot of fans confused as to what will happen to PCD and their music in the future.
Nevertheless, 'Doll Domination' is a fantastic party album and the reissues in the form of 'The Mini Collection' and 'Doll Domination 2.0' are great snippets of the Doll's latest hits, including one of their latest best sellers, the international chart-topper "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)".
